A year in review with Moorgate
As a trusted provider of forklift hire, sales and driver training across Leeds and Yorkshire, we’re proud to spend our days enhancing the operations of businesses across the region. This year has been no different. As we start to wind down for the festive season, we wanted to reflect on a successful year for Moorgate. We chatted to Courtney, our Operations Manager, for her insights on the highlights and challenges of 2023, as well as what we’re looking forward to next year.
Hi Courtney. Looking back over 2023, are there any standout successes or achievements for Moorgate?
This year we have had the best year yet for our driver training. Almost every single day was booked up which was amazing and a great testament to our commitment to providing effective training. We have also had a fantastic year for our fleet – we’ve added more trucks this year than we ever have which puts us in a great position for continued growth next year.
Most years have their challenges – were there challenges for Moorgate this year and how were they overcome?
Our main challenge this year, like many in the forklift industry, has been the gas issue, which is ongoing. We covered the issue on the blog and we’re keeping our customers as updated as we can. Unfortunately, there’s not really anything we can do about it and it’s costing everyone money. We’re hoping for a resolution next year.
Can you remember any particularly memorable or rewarding moments when dealing with a customer in 2023?
This year we worked with a company who have just opened a new depot in the UK. Ultimately, we’ve provided them with ten hired forklifts, which is a massive success story for us. When they first set up, they took one truck and as of this month, they have ten trucks from us. They’re a great company and they’ve grown so quickly so it’s been lovely to see, especially knowing that we’ve been able to help them with their success.
Are there any emerging trends or technologies that could change the forklift industry in the next year?
Hangcha is now manufacturing a lithium forklift that is capable of working in the same environment as LPG or diesel-powered forklifts. Lithium-powered forklifts have a lot of really great benefits – they’re considered more environmentally friendly than traditional LPG or diesel forklifts as they produce zero emissions. They also tend to be more energy-efficient and have lower running costs in the long term. We’ve just ordered one which will arrive in January, so we’ll let everyone know more then. We’re hoping it could be a potential answer to the ongoing gas issue.
What are you looking forward to in 2024?
More of the same – helping our customers, growing the team and expanding our fleet further!
